Crisolenguas is an e-journal of the Department of Foreign Languages at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras. Crisolenguas provides a forum for scholars who write on topics in French, German, Greek, Italian, Latin, Portuguese literature, culture, language, linguistics, translation, and film. 

Crisolenguas is seeking submissions of previously unpublished manuscripts on any topic related to the areas mentioned above. Articles should be written so that they are accessible to a broad audience. Remember, individuals who may not be familiar with the particular subject matter addressed in the article would appreciate user-friendly terminology. Crisolenguas is designed to disseminate and share the research of scholars with other scholars in the Caribbean and beyond.

All submissions should conform to the requirements of the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers (2003). Authors are responsible for formatting the body of their works, references, and citations to the 6th edition of the MLA handbook before submission.

It is the responsibility of the author to inform the editor of any similar work that is already published or under consideration for publication elsewhere.

After publication offers have been accepted, auhors give Crisolenguas full rights to their manuscripts.  However, authors will hold the copyright to the articles. Crisolenguas will be noted as the original publisher of the article in the event that authors wish to republish their manuscripts. The editors of Crisolenguas reserve the right to make any editorial changes to manuscripts in the final stages of publiation (major changes will warrant notification of the authors).

Manuscripts should be previously unpublished and no longer than 30 pages, notes and bibliography included. They should be double-spaced, Times New Roman, font 12, and should follow MLA style and formatting.

Send an electronic copy of your manuscript in Word to the Genreal Editor. Include your name, affiliation, and title of manuscript in the email. Or, submit a hard copy of your manuscript to the General Editor and include a separate page that states your name, affiliation, and title of manuscript.

All manuscripts submitted to Crisolenguas go through a two-step review process. First, the editors of the journal review each manuscript to decide if it meets the basic requirements for publication (content, style, and originality).  Authors are notified by e-mail as to whether their manuscripts have been accepted for a second review process. Usually, authors will need to make minor corrections to manuscripts in style and formatting before the manuscripts can be sent out for the second, outside review. After the authors make the proposed corrections to their manuscripts, we invite them to submit their manuscripts for a final peer-review by outside readers.
